The Incrementalist: Practical takes on strategy, ops, and avoiding dumb decisions

The Incrementalist is a newsletter about strategy, operations, and decision-making in the word of tech, gaming, and content. I didn’t come up in games or tech professionally; in fact, I started in investment banking and hedge funds, but escaped into this space over a decade ago. Since then, I’ve launched new businesses and ventures, led teams, and tackled strategy and operations, learning how to make smarter moves and avoid dumb decisions. Here, you’ll find:

  • Clear, structured thinking on all things strategy, execution, and operations.

  • How to put those ideas into practice with tactics and lessons from experience.

  • An occasional tangent (or rant?) to help make sense of work, life, and leadership.

About Me

I’m Steve Kim. I’ve spent the past decade in gaming and content, mostly without realizing I was drawing from my early days in more buttoned-up (literally) industries. Places where onboarding, comp, even where you sit, had all been sorted. I started applying that structure to teams figuring it out as they go—not to make everything stiff and corporate, but tailoring it for a world where hoodies > cuff links.
